In April 1516 the bavarian county assembly came together in Ingolstadt at the river Danube chaired by Duke Wilhelm IV.
This assembly approved a law presented by the Duke and thereby established it as common law for entire Bavaria, that for the brewing of beer only barley, hop and water were allowed as ingredients.
German beer has until today to be produced by law of the Federal Republic of Germany only with malt, hop, yeast and water.
Therefore the purity law of beer from 1516 is the oldest, till today existing food act in the world.
At 17 August 1999 00.02Z,a big earthquake destroyed to Marmara region of Turkey and unfortunatelly more than 50.000 persons (including 4000 in our city) passed away...
